About me

Since setting up Hannah Hickman Creative Cake Makers, I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of couples to create amazing wedding and celebration cakes, and I often have to remind myself how lucky I am to bake as my real job!

I have always been a keen baker, every evening as a child we’d have tea and cake when my dad came home from work, and I’d often help mum bake victoria sponges and chocolate cake. However, I started taking baking seriously in 2009, when alongside my corporate job in property, I signed up for every cake decorating evening course I could find! Once I had started, I quickly knew that cake making was exactly what I wanted to do, and I was lucky to secure a prestigious placement at The Cake Parlour in Wimbledon under the guidance of renowned Wedding Cake Designer, Zoe Clark.

After relocating London to Cheltenham in 2013, I then took the plunge and set up on my own. Hundreds of bespoke cakes and many (many!) baking hours later, I love my job more now than ever.

I now bake in my professional cake making studio at home, an amazing space in my former garage with professional standard equipment, designed by me and built by my amazing Dad (thanks Dad, you’re the best!).

To put it simply – I am passionate about great cake. The art of wedding cake design gives me so much pleasure; to create something special by baking, icing and decorating, taking care to perfect each individual skill and ending up with an individual masterpiece – which you then get to eat… what could be better? I hope your cake will be talked about (in a good way!), by you and your guests long after your big day. It’s amazing what can be created with sugar!
